ProjectPURR Grand Opening

Some of the beautiful kittens ready for a forever home.

Today was the open house for Project Purr-AL.  As most of you know, this is an organization that Brit was VERY involved with before she moved to Montgomery for law school.  Because of her, I started painting the cat paintings and donating many of these to PPAR for auctions to raise money to help with the shelter.  I really enjoyed meeting so many of the volunteers today and seeing all of their hard work.  These are some awesome people who give of their time and money to help rescue cats and kittens who are homeless and give them a second at chance at life.

Below are a few of the photos taken from today.

This little beauty was adopted today.
Sophia and Ivy.
These are two of the "Purr Girls" who help out.  A bake sale and raffle was held today to help with the vet bill.

Paintings to be raffled off today.

This is Adam Levine.  (Named by Ivy)  I love this cat.
I was not the only one liking Adam.  This little visitor also liked him.

I even got in a little cat love today.

If you were not able to come by today, you can still help out.  Go to the PPAR Facebook page or to the website.  There are many ways you can help out.

Thanks to PPAR for letting me into your world!!!  I think I have found many new friends!  You guys are awesome.

Labor Day weekend with Landen

Brit decided to take a break from all of the studying at Law School and made a quick trip home for the week-end.  Road Trip for Landen.

Landen got to visit with Lacie, Brit's dog.  Lacie is not feeling too good these days.  Please say a little prayer for her.  Looks like Landen is trying to give her some love.
Now he is being a bully!!!  Bad cat!!!

Making sure he gets the last drop.  This cat thinks he is a human.
He is a ladies man.  Here he is snuggled up to Brit's mom, Kim, while they both nap.
Landen's brother turtle Leonardo made the trip back with Brit & Landen riding shot gun.  Looking forward to his new, bigger tank.
This is one happy turtle.

Woke up Labor Day morning and it was raining.  Landen wanted to sleep in.

It rained all day.  Landen loves looking out the window at the rain.

Have a great Wednesday!!

AWESOME FEELING OF GIVING

Yesterday, I blogged about Project PURR and the Auction they have going on right now to help raise money.  This is a wonderful non-profit was started in May of 2011 by Stacey Lavender and her daughter CeCe Comptonto save cats from being euthanized at Animal Shelters.  The organization provides care and adoption services for many homeless, abused and unwanted cats and kittens.  As a non-profit, PURR relies solely on volunteers and donations. "This is so important to me, as these animals need a voice and they cannot help themselves," said Lavender.

As most of my friends know, I paint just because I love too.  This is not something I make money on.  I have sold a few pieces in the past, but I mostly just paint for the fun (therapy) of it.  Brit was the one who got me to thinking about a way I could help.  She suggested donating a painting with proceeds going to PURR.  In May, she came over one evening and we painted this Funky Kitty.

I posted it on the Project PURR facebook page and someone bought it.  What a great feeling knowing that my Funky Kitty painting was helping.

Sunday night as I was cruising Facebook, I noticed that the Auction has started.  I send a message to Pam and she posted this painting Sunday Night.

By this morning, it had sold at the BUY IT NOW price of $50.00.  How cool is that!!!  I had decided last night to add Blue Kitty to the auction also.

Blue Kitty.

When I woke up this morning and saw that the 3 cats had sold, I decided to put Black Kitty up for "adoption" also.

If you would like to bid on either of these paintings or donate to Project PURR, please visit http://www.projectpurr-al.org/, on FACEBOOK, call 251.533.4770 or 251.300.1935 or email projectpurr@aol.com
